HMRC stand by RTI schedule
HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) says the timetable of implementation for Real Time Information (RTI) is attainable, despite industry-wide doubts.
Responses from employers, software developers and payroll bureaus earlier in the year revealed doubts over the projects timetable.
The summary of responses indicated that software developers felt the proposed schedule did not allow sufficient time to develop and test products.
However speaking at the Payroll World Autumn Update Conference in London, Phil Nilson from the HMRC RTI team said: “I have to stress that RTI is on track, is on time and it will come in as scheduled.”
HMRC say they will start to mandate the use of RTI from April 2013 and all employers will be required to use RTI by October 2013.
