After 100 years, the firm says farewell to Argyle Street, but not to Birkenhead!

McEwan Wallace Chartered Accountants and Business Advisers has moved from their location on Argyle Street in Birkenhead, to a purpose built, greener office space at Monks Ferry. The new location, next to Cammel Laird, overlooks the River Mersey to the Liverpool skyline and offers contemporary and collaborative workspace for the firms expanding team.

We caught up with Anne Stubbs, a director at MW and our relocation project leader, to find out more…

Anne said “We were never going to move far. It was a conscious decision to invest in Birkenhead and its future. We wanted to continue our commitment to help local businesses and the local community and that's why we enlisted the help of local firms to transform our new office space.

Another key driver for the move was to create office space that would benefit our staff. We listened carefully to their ideas and suggestions and hope the renovation reflects that – from interactive meeting rooms and the latest technology to collaborative areas and quiet zones, all with an added emphasis on reducing our environmental impact.

Our commitment to being greener was at the forefront of our minds in trying to reduce the waste produced from the move and our priority was to ensure as little waste went to landfill as possible.

This was achieved by repurposing what we could and rehoming equipment and furniture to local businesses for their own premises.

We also donated the remainder of the desks, chairs, white goods and IT equipment to charities in Birkenhead and Bolton, with some also shipped to those in need in Cameroon!

We have been inviting clients to come and take a look and we are proudly giving them a guided tour!”
